Hi, I’m Christine Barzellone-Lewis

I have always held an interest for meeting new people, learning their life stories, and sharing in their journey towards growth. As an undergraduate student, I found that God was inviting me into a deeper relationship with his suffering Son by using the ‘ear of my heart’ to sit and feel with anyone who had found themselves in a season of change, distress, hopelessness and suffering. In 2015, I graduated with a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northeastern State University. I became licensed by the State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure in 2018, approved as a Counselor Supervisor for LPC- Candidates in 2021, and a Nationally Board Certified Counselor in 2022.
My experience in the field of mental health began in 2012, as a mental health technician working with children and adolescents receiving inpatient psychiatric services. As a technician I worked to help facilitate therapeutic treatment goals, management of the treatment milieu, facilitating expressive, rehabilitative, and social therapeutic groups, as well as overseeing activities of daily living. In addition to my experience in acute care, I engaged in child and family counseling in a community and school-based agency setting for five years. My most recent professional experience is serving as a Counseling Manager/Lead Therapist for a local non-profit.

My Approach

As a professional, I believe that each individual I work with is a narrator of their life, and has the capacity to grow. My practicing philosophy is to help individuals increase self awareness, improve self-regulation skills, and strengthen problem solving ability by identifying unhelpful distortions in thought, and creating new pathways in thinking that lead to productive and healthy behaviors and relationships. I believe that the foundation of therapeutic change first begins with a supportive relationship built on trust, empathy, respect and unconditional positive regard.  I integrate my Catholic-Christian beliefs, professional training, and field experience, and tailor my approach to accommodate the needs and goals of my clients, all the while remaining curious and compassionate with an openness to receive others as they are-beloved children of God. I am so glad you found yourself here.
